‘Telangana Vimochan Diwas’

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah addressed a huge public meeting organized on the occasion of ‘Telangana Vimochan Diwas’ in Nirmal, Telangana on September 17. Shri Shah Saluted the sacrifices of the freedom fighters on the occasion and said that the nation will always be indebted to the supreme sacrifices of these personalities. He also greeted the people of Telangana and Marathwada on the occasion of Hyderabad Liberation Day and said that the country will always be indebted to those who laid down their lives for the unity of the country. It is to be known that the then princely state of Hyderabad merged with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948, after the military action initiated by the then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Shri Shah said, ‘It was due to the valour and courage of iron man Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel that after 13 months of India’s Independence on September 17, 1948 the people of Telangana were saved from the clutches of Nizam and Rajakars and got their independence. With this the famous Polo mission came to an end.

He further said, in Telangana religion based reservation has been given. The Bharatiya Janata Party believes that reservation should never be given on the basis of religion. We strongly oppose reservation based on religion. This is against our Constitution. The Bharatiya Janata Party strongly opposes it.

The TRS feels that every election is won by money power. But the people of Telangana have now said goodbye to the politics of money power, muscle power, politics of dynasty and appeasement.

Shri Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has taken the rightful decision that whenever the BJP will form government in Telangana, every year on September 17 will be officially celebrated as ‘Hyderabad Vimochan Diwas’. State BJP President Shri Sanjay Bandi, Union Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy and others were present on the occasion.
