Dr P.V.N. Raju from Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh was deeply inspired by the personality of Sri Gopala Rao Tagore ji and entered into politics. He dedicated himself to the Jana Sangh party and held numerous positions at the district and state level in the party. He served as the state president till the Jana Sangh merged into the Janata party in 1977. He protested against the emergency and was imprisoned as a MISA detainee for about 18 months in 1975. Later he worked as Sangh chalak of Kakinada city from 1998.
