As the poll bugle has sounded in Karnataka, the BJP is once again emerging as the most favourite political party in the state. While the achievements of the double-engine government are immense, the faith of the people in the development-oriented policies of the BJP and its commitment to the politics of performance has created a new trust and confidence in the government. The BJP has not only provided a government that has a vision for the future but has also made serious efforts to take the state out of the morass of regressive and corrupt politics of Congress and JDS. The people of Karnataka still remember the way the Congress and JDS tried to cling to power even after being rejected by the people in the last elections. It was under the massive pressure of the people that the unholy Congress-JDS nexus crumbled under its weight, and the BJP formed the government under the leadership of Shri BS Yediyurappa. The support of the people in the form of their blessings has continued to energise the efforts of the BJP government for the all-round development of the state.

The double engine government in Karnataka under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given new momentum to the state. The Chief Minister of the state, Shri Basavaraj Bommai, and his predecessor, Shri BS Yeddyurappa, not only pulled the state out of Congress-JDS misrule but laid

a new foundation for its glorious journey ahead. Today, Karnataka is emerging as a new hub of aircraft and helicopter manufacturing, along with a growing number of start-ups and unicorns. In Karnataka, thousands of kilometres of new national highways, new IITs, the world’s longest railway platform, the Vande Bharat train, Kempegowda Airport terminal, the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway, an industrial corridor in Tumkur, and a robust start-up ecosystem are some of the achievements of the double engine government in the state. The sincere efforts made by the BJP government can be seen in Karnataka pacing ahead of other states in various parameters of development like FDI, innovation index, and ease of doing business. A large number of schemes like the Janasevaka scheme, Raita Vidya Nidhi, Stree Samarthya Yojana, Jagjivan Ram self-employment scheme, Swami Vivekanand Yuvashakti programme, Kayak Yojana were launched to empower socio-economically weaker sections of society and help them earn their livelihoods. The BJP government has also stopped the unconstitutional Muslim quota of 4% in government jobs and further empowered the Lingayat and Vokkaliga communities by giving 2% job reservation to each of them. While initiating innovative measures for the empowerment of the poor, farmers, labourers, SCs, STs, OBCs, women, youth, and other deprived classes of society, the BJP government has launched futuristic projects with the aim of making it a leader in various sectors.

While the Congress government in the state remained embroiled in various scams, creating records in corruption, looting of public money, and scams of various hues, the development agenda always took a backseat in the government. Who can forget scams like the Arkhavati layout scam, the recruitment scam, the land use change scam, the teacher’s recruitment scam, and many others during the Congress-JDS regime? The communal and appeasement politics of the Congress and JDS also saw the emergence of PFI in the state, which has now been banned by the BJP government. The divisive politics of Congress, which led to animosity between the castes, sects, religions, and regions, are still fresh in the people’s memories. The mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ has been instrumental in healing the wounds of the Congress era, as under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, a new Karnataka is taking shape with the resolve to march ahead in the ‘Amrit Kaal.’ As people are blessing the BJP overwhelmingly with their love and support, BJP National President Shri JP Nadda has rightly said that the vision and mission of the BJP are to change the face of Karnataka.                                                                                                                                                                                               shivshaktibakshi@kamalsandesh.org
