Congress is trying to defend the indefensible » Bhajpa Ki Baat
The manner in which the Congress is trying to defend the indefensible is not only unfortunate but also condemnable. The Congress has sought to question and criticise the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as a Lok Sabha member following his conviction by a court, even when there are clear legal provisions in this regard. The disqualification in accordance with Section 8(3) of the Representation of the People’s Act, 1951, cannot be disputed after the conviction order has been passed by the court. While the law has taken its course, relief can only be sought legally, but the Congress feels that it can reap political capital out of it. Any attempt to politicise the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi will further expose the propagandist and baseless politics of the Congress, which people have repeatedly rejected. The days when the people were misled by such propaganda are over, and everyone can see through the conviction, which is the result of his irresponsible, slanderous, abusive, denigrating, and divisive politics. The nation expects a leader of a national party to behave in a socially acceptable manner and weigh his words responsibly, but Rahul Gandhi repeatedly stoops so low with his utterances that people have developed a penchant for rejecting his politics again and again, and every time more vigorously.
By opposing the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress is actually committing the same blunder it has been repeating again and again
By opposing the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress is actually committing the same blunder it has been repeating again and again. It has developed a habit of attacking the constitution, judiciary, parliament, election commission, EVM, and all other revered and respected democratic institutions of India rather than introspecting on its own plight. Every time there is a court ruling against it, it blames the court, and if it loses elections, it blames the Election Commission, the EVM, and even the voters. It is not surprising that Rahul Gandhi’s supporters in the media are now blaming the law under which he has been convicted, but they have not offered a word of advice for him to respect the law of the land and desist from defamatory utterances and false allegations. As a habitual offender, Rahul Gandhi has gone to the extent of not only raising the hoax of ‘democracy in danger’ in India but also seeking the intervention of foreign powers in India’s internal affairs. While he tries to denigrate the name of the country, which is known as the “mother of democracies” in a foreign land, his conviction by the court is the result of the offences he commits repeatedly, even after being warned again and again. The nation has not forgotten the way he was forced to tender an apology in the Supreme Court for his ‘Chowkidar Chor hai’ remarks. As the Congress refuses to learn its lessons from the sins it has committed, it continues to pursue the politics of false propaganda, lies, and deceit.
The unabated decline of the Congress has now entered the phase of rapid degeneration wherein its recovery appears highly improbable. The ideological deviations that started in Congress early in the post independence period not only led to its organisational disintegration but also saw power-centric politics capture its soul. The result is that it has now become the symbol of every evil in Indian politics. It not only represents dynastic politics but promotes every kind of vote-bank politics, seeking to create space for itself by dividing the society on caste, regional, religious, language, and other grounds. Now that it is out of power and has been losing elections repeatedly, it has been relying more on propaganda politics. It believes that by continuously levelling false allegations, it can come back to power while having no faith in constructive politics, democratic institutions, or even the people of the country.
